The Fort Laramie radio show was a western/military series. It was the story of the life of "Lee Quince, Captain of Cavalry" and his exploits on the frontier of the old west. It was a hostile land with settlers on the way and the U.S. Army had to do their best to protect the settlers. In addition to the (now politically incorrect) hostile and savage Indians, the land itself had its own dangers with severe heat in the summer, extreme cold in winter, wild animals, and no nearby medical assistance in the case of accidents.
Series creator, "Norm MacDonnell", insisted that Fort Laramie's scripts be as historically accurate as possible. The buildings and their names on the show had to have the same architecture and names as those near the real-life Fort Laramie. The actions of the Indians, military personnel, and settlers had to be authentic too!
